As students everywhere are heading back to school (whether they like it or not!) Broadway.com asked readers which musical set in a school ranks as their favorite. The results are in, and shows about a perky blonde lawyer, a green witch and a group of sex-crazed Germans lead the pack. Check out the results below!
1. Legally Blonde - 23%
Omigod you guys! Anything is possible when you put your mind to it, just ask Elle Woods, the heroine of Legally Blonde. After her boyfriend dumped her due to her lack of conservative demeanor, Elle buckled down, enrolled at Harvard Law and showed her classmates she could indeed transform herself into a credible lawyer. Starring Laura Bell Bundy as Elle, Legally Blonde ran at the Palace Theatre from April 29, 2007 to October 19, 2008.
2. Wicked - 19%
The fictional Shiz University brings together lead characters Elphaba and Glinda. The pair begins as roommates who despise each other, but through their adventures at school, they form a close bond. Wicked continues to run at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre.
3. Spring Awakening - 16%
In the Tony-winning musical Spring Awakening, education wasn’t quite the top concern for the show's group of German teens. With sex on their minds, the youngsters learned more about life, love and death outside of the schoolhouse than they were ever taught by their tyrannical teachers. See, not all the important learning happens inside the classroom.
